i haven't had much time to work on it lately, but there is a way for me to input custom HTML as part of the drag-and-drop system. i've tried to get some h1 titles in there to see if it helps but still not having a ton of luck

Don't overthink, or overwork, the H tags. This is a scenario where you're getting wrapped up in a detail you really don't need to burn so many calories on.
