I'd also offer up I had "proactive" chat on ServiceVines. In the beginning I really got a lot of responses, feedback and interactions. I've noticed over time that's dropped. I think it primarily has to do that many sites do it now and people are conditioned to close the window. Just like email marketing, social media marketing and everything else it tends to work very well in the beginning and the more people that do it the harder it is to stand out.

And I'll say one really bad part of staffing it, is we've had people forget to "log out" on our side. That's a REALLY bad experience. The customer thinks they are getting a live person and all they get is crickets.

Tony is right though. When you engage someone it's usually a good experience for both.
