Thats easy just pay them a % of what the job pays.

Most fellers pay about 10 bucks per hour and ***** about a cup of coffee and wonder why they cant keep employees.

Thanks Larry

I understand the concept of "by the job" but I also understand the problems. Hence the question of how you make it work.

Piece meal work is allowed in Texas. I have played with the idea.

Actually paying a decient hourley wage with free "coffee" and a profit sharing bonus at the end of the month is the eaisest way to go.

A 200 to 500$ check for a employee is "Huge"

Im glad Im solo and dont miss the days of depending on others, even though I make less money.

That's exactly why you don't have 18 employees . And never will with that attitude

I have 3 full time guys and where busting butt for around $250,000 a year. $500,000 seems very hard to reach with 3 fulltimers for me anyway. I give this guy employing 18 guys credit for being able to run an operation that large
it takes so much more to run a operation that size over a 1 or 2 man crew. Where taking good advice from the 18 man operation right now, especially if we all want to be of that size someday, good stuff to keep an eye on.

Average numbers of employee's 18.

They stop for 10 Mins on the way to site. = 18peoplex10mins = 180mins or 3 Hrs

Average of 7 months = 150 working days a year

150days x 3 hrs per day = 450 Hrs.

Average Cost/Hr = $30 (example)

450hrs x $30 = $ 13,500

Now what if I factored in the extra 10min lunch or extra time at the shop in the morning/evening before punching in/out.
Do you use GPS so your able to track stops like that. I find without GPS the stops are always more frequent and longer then they claim to be.

Percentage of the job is silly. I manage two other LCo's near me for them. Basically all they do is the work. We are all friends and trust each other so don't flame.

Pay your employees by the hour and crew leaders a lower by the hour rate plus a per job percentage. Every Friday I drive to all the yards and do quality assurance. The crew leader gets a score 1-5. Bonus pay based on the score.
