IIRC, when I was at the local auto parts store last week I saw some JB weld made specifically for plastic gas tanks. If the crack is small that may do the trick for only a couple bucks.

It may sound high but on a backpack blower they're about that much...

Two things. First of all, the tank for my old edger with a 3.5 briggs on it was $66. Second JB weld for gas tanks does work. I did my Dad's Isuzu diesel truck 10 years ago and its still on there. That stuff gets super hot when you put the two mixes together. Don't get it on you.

I've got you all beat, the plastic valve cover on my 23 hp kohler cracked and was leaking oil, jb welded that and its been holding fine for about 4 months.
