Then generic MSM it is. For me, that is still pretty inexpensive at 1/2 oz per acre. That rate kills or stunts many different weeds.

The biggest disadvantage is that (assuming you're doing it right) you're scalping the Bermuda in the fall. Just before going dormant, carbohydrates are moved from the leaves to the roots. In the spring, the carbs are translocated back to the shoots during green up. If you're scalping the turf, you're removing a lot of those carbs at the expense of the roots...more specifically, the shoots for the next growing season
Another thing to consider: when the weakened Bermuda is breaking dormancy, it is having to compete with the well established rye.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE A NICELY OVERSEEDED LAWN. Try to get your customer to skip overseeing every third year and use pigments during that year. The Bermuda will respond well and so will your customer.
