Stihl 4mix edger hanging throttle

Throttle started hanging on my 4mix FC110 edger today. No probems with the throttle cable. So sick of ethanol fuel. Screws up all the two strokes I buy. This thing ran absolutely perfect for the first two weeks I've ran it. I run 91 octane QT gas and Stihl sythetic LOL. Gonna start buying ethanol free about 10 gallons at a time.

What do you guys think is wrong with this edger? Carb shot now? Crank seals? I can't believe another 2 stroke is having problems. I went 10 years mowing with very dependable 2 strokes and now they all need attention constantly.

Gonna adjust the valves tomo but I have a feeling that's not the issue. Though, I've never seen a hanging throttle. Usually it's hard starts and bogging.

My FS 90 had that issue. Turns out I had the grip too close to the clutch housing and had the cable at a sharp angle. Eventually it broke.

That and the cable itself slides on half moon piece right before the carb, and it was gunked up. The new cable has what appeared to be a sheath over that exposed section so that it slides easier.

Don't know if that's your case or not, but you might want to look at that section along with possibly replacing the cable.

The cable action is perfect. Wish it was that easy.

There is no magic bullet in using all those fancy fuels or oils. And usually a 2 stroke don't have valves. I look at flooding being the problem if they don't start on 4 mix. Pulling the cord about 10 times with it in the off position then go to start and don't choke.

It's might be a sticking cable...just replaced one in KM 130 the other day...like WhiteGardens says, they have improved the new cables and added a sheath.

We have about 30 of the 4mix handhelds...
When the rpms are not responsive to the throttle...staying high...it is usually an air leak between the isoblock and the cylinder...or the pulse tube leaking...

Thanks Piston Slapper. Took the carb off and there was a ton of gunk around the engine case by the bottom of the pulse tube. Think it's been leaking a little for a long time. Gonna hit the dealer tomo for new parts and hope that fixes it. Looks like a little wetness all the way to the front crank seal. Gonna check that after the first round of parts.

That gunk probably came from fuel leaing from the gaskets on both sides of the isoplate...gravity has a way of getting fuel all over everything..

Mine has this same problem stihl tech has tried telling me the have moon thing or a cam as he calls it isn't suppose to move at all. My brand new 130 moves and it is smooth and works fine. My 1 year old 90 that doesn't have the white sheath over it doesn't work too good anymore. The cam doesn't move at all and is very stiff on the trigger. Won't be buy anymore from this dealer till they get this fixed.

The new throttle assembly cable for it has the sheath. It's not an expensive part to say the least.
