Loud Wheel squeaking

I've got a exmark 36 belt drive walk behind and yesterday I was mowing a lawn and all of a sudden the left wheel just started making a loud squeaking noise. It kept going the whole rest of the mow. I assume that a bearing issue or something rubbing with the brake? The mower is only a few years old and the previous owner didn't seem like he took care of this stuff. The first time I greased it up it took a ton of grease. So I'm thinking its a bearing.

It's not likely the bearings, they use big roller bearings and ya don't go fast enough to make em squeeeeel.
You prolly got something rubbing against the pulley. There should be a fork type looking thing that is meant to dislodge any debris from the pulley, it gets bent and will rub the pulley sides and cause it to squeel. Or could be the brakes draggin on that side.

brake band

Do you have to take the tire off to get the brake band off?

Figured it out....

It was the brake band. Nothing in those folks, but when I put a w-4 in the brake band area the noise goes away so I assume that's what the issue is. Thanks again for the help...
