When I have that problem, it is normally the center steel shaft has rotated just a little out of alignment.

Absolute must have for hedge trimming the extension piece makes them 11 feet long 14 if you use 2 of em. And I do few old hedges that are still nearly impossible to reach the center with all that and coming in from both sides while standing on a ladder 10-12 feet up. Had ours 5 plus years still runs as strong as the day we bought it.

It put a ton of weigh far out...yes, hard to handle...I have the carbon fiber extension...used it once.

well there are the wires there, but they are not broken. they do bend of course, i am not sure how to explain. it doesnt look broken

It's nasty your arm will start to give out very quickly so you only do what needs to be done with them at that length and use the shorter ones for everything else. I typically have 2 sets of 24s with me one set of 18s and an old fs85 extension trimmer that's 8 feet and use the kombi as needed when its in the long setting. But when its just 8 feet it feels great I could weld it for hours at a clip.
