fuel pump question leaking

i have a john deere quik trak with a 23hp kawasaki engine and i have done 4 oil changes in the past 2 month on it. it floods out to where gas gushes out the muffler. took the carb off and cleaned it blew out everything. and still does it. it locks up if you leave the gas on overnight (like a vapor lock) took the carb off again today to look again and everything looks good i did notice that the fuel pump leak alittle bit like a drop every 10 second witch adds up over a 8 hour night. are the fuel pumps suppose to leak or should it be air tight until you turn it over.

don't want to take it but i might have too eveytime i forget to turn off the gas its time for a oil change

Did you ck the needle and seat? With the bowl off,,,and gas line hooked up. Operate the float and see if the gas stops as you raise the float. If not,,,you need needle and seat,,,,or a carb

Small amounts of fuel will flow thru the fuel pump if the fuel level in the tank is higher than the pump.gravity feed..
Either have a damaged needle valve or a sticking or sinking float...

i had over a gallon of gas in the oil today and muffler was as full as it could get.
motor locks up everymorning if i forget to turn valve off. and seem to struggle to start when i get to every yard instead of starting right up it takes 20 second of turning over to start and forget about choking it it will take even longer
