As anyone installed a trench drain across a concrete driveway before?

I have been contacted by a potential customer with a variety of drainage issues. The person’s house is lower then the street and he needs a trench drain across the width of the driveway to stop water from coming into the garage.

I guess I’m looking for stories or wisdom from people who have tackled projects like this before that can share what to watch out for and make sure you do this.. type of thing. Thanks to all in advance.

Just make sure that you have somewhere for all that water to go. I had a customer call me for the same thing. After the town repaved the road it was flooding over the apron and down the driveway into the basement. No trench drain and drywell you can install can handle what a municipal storm drain is supposed to.
Your best bet is to raise the apron and or sidewalk/ driveway a little so it passes and floods the neighbor. Install the drain as a back up

Not on concrete, but we did do a commercial asphalt job like this. The had sitting water in the middle of the lot so we for a 4" wide x 4-5" wide slit on a diagonal to the edge of the lot where there was a stone swale it dumped into. Now that I think of it this asphalt was 2 layers thick, so when we cut we did not go to the soil that would normally be underneath and that may not work well for concrete

I've done two, both were in front of garages, both were asphalt driveways. Both were trench drains installed along span of driveway in front of garage. One we designed to deposit into 2 drywells, the other we installed submerged pipe and daylighted at lower grade into wooded area. Critical point to keep in mind...how much water will the system take on in the worst possible situation? If it is minimal volume , tying into a drywell, with appropriate soil, is an option. Medium/Heavy volume, I would strongly suggest running submerged pipe to lower grade and daylight.
