The engine wiring harness has a black plastic heatshrink covering on it.
Slit the plastic with a razorblade and remove the covering...
Tou will see the diode crimped on one of the wires...
Using a meter check it for continuity...it should only read in one direction...
If you replace it...it must go in the positive to negative direction....

Hello Slapper. Took off shrink wrap and there is no diode on the wires. Post # 15 mentioned something about a diode for the clutch? Any idea about this?Could I be looking in the wrong place for this diode? Thanks!

The engine harness has the connector that plugs into the mower harness..
Supposed to have a diode...

I don't see how...Joe...the engine is blowing fuses when cranked...
It could possibly be a shorted stator spiking the ignition...

Timarrio...unplug the regulator 3 wire connector...see if it stops blowing fuses..

Hey SlapperI just wanted to finish up this thread. I have seen too many that never really give you a final conclution how the problem was solved. Thanks for you help along the way with this. As it turned out the coil was blowing the fuses. I replaced the bad coil and the wire harness and ran the inline fuse to the center wire on the regulator rectifier. I also replaced the ignition switch. The mower has run for over 8 hrs now with no problems even in some hot weather. Just maybe we (you) finally nailed it! I appreciated the advice everyone brought to this thread. Hopefully others can be helped from this information.
