I have read every post in this thread and have but one question.

Why on earth would anyone make the investment, assume the risk and work his rear off being self employed for $50k a year? Seriously, why not just get a job?

You do know we're in a recession? Average income in my state is around 25k per year, and that was when the economy was doing well. So all of these people being laid off are becoming "lawn guys" or "handymen." If these people are doing anything to make money, how many good paying jobs are out there?

simply because id rather make 50k with the winter off then work a job for 12 months and make 30k. Thats if you can even find a job for that much
