Hi Greg,
My 1998 725 I purchased new from Eastside Rentals, but I've heard that they don't carry Grasshopper anymore.

My 2004 722D I purchased with about 800 hours from a private owner.

I do most all of my own repairs and maintenance, so I haven't had much need for dealer support.

I get most of my parts online, usually The Mower Shop in Fort Smith Arkansas, and also Mowpart.

I've had good success with Oregon aftermarket blades, we've been running a full mulch kit and low-lifts with great results overall. The safety aspect is outstanding with no open discharge. Really wet and/or weedy turf will build up under the deck, but even then rarely leaves any visible clumps.

You are correct Eastside Rentals doesn't carry Grasshopper anymore, they got Dixie Chopper as their main brand. I seen a Ferris and a Snapper-Pro sitting outside one day not sure if they carry them anymore.

Will be looking into some Oregon blades for our Dixie and eXmark for next year. We side discharge with OCDC. We do our own repairs as well. The Mower shop do they deal only in Grasshopper parts?

I've been intrigued by the front deck Grasshopper since reading about your success, just haven't found a dealer that has one on the floor to look over.

Yes, The Mower Shop in Fort Smith specializes in OEM Grasshopper parts, they have online parts diagrams and excellent customer service as well.

We've been using Grasshopper frontmounts ever since we started our business at the beginning of 1994. I don't have any hours on mid-mounts to be able to directly compare. Some of the benefits of the frontmount include easier deck/blade maintenance with the flip-up deck, greater reach under fruit trees and such, perhaps better weight distribution with the tail wheel(s) resulting in less rutting, and the ability to back up just about any slope.

Here's a link that will return some other Grasshopper dealers nearby:

P.S. I've had generally good experience with Lawn Mower Headquarters, maybe you just caught them on a bad day :-)
