Yes. The diaphragm will work. I am not familiar with extra gasket. Could it be the gasket from the ASVF atmospheric vacuum breaker? There is a flat gasket in that, but it couldn't be confused with a solenoid part due to size. Can you post a picture of it?
I am glad your rain sensor issue was resolved.

I had another thought. If you bought parts recently from a retail outlet, it is possible the part is a lanyard that attaches to the bleed screw and through the solenoid. It is meant to prevent the loss of the bleed screw when they totally unscrew the bleed screw and lose it as they wipe their face dry from the shower.

Just a question Ron,

Why did RB stop putting adjuster tools in the 3500's? Was my last few a bad batch?
