anyone here have a toro 22156 or 22197?

neither model is in stock at any dealer here, so unfortunately i'd have to order it before confirming these two dealbreakers won't be an issue:

i've seen at least some toro models with ridiculously low max handlebar heights (as in below the belt!)- anyone care to share a measurement from the ground to the handle at the highest settings?

also, do both these models free roll when the drive is not engaged?

22156 most likely, unless it's a short one or doesn't free roll. In that case, the heavy duty deck is required, so I'd like to hear fro 22197 owners as well.

have a lawnboy 22171, heard and believe the 22156, is pretty much the same mower. it's from 2007, so not sure what or if there is much diff. to today's model, handle features but could take a measure on the handle on it if that could be of help. also do remember there is n adjustment on it, 2 settings, down on the deck where the handle connects. remember doing the adjustment, done a few yrs ago and can't remember which one it's set at, will take a look that. btw-it's been a very good mower for me.

Yeah, great. If you get a chance I'd appreciate it. Don't change anything, just let me know which handle & mow height settings yours is currently at, if you do get a chance to measure its handle height.

Toro has no clue, and I doubt any dealer will be interested in spending time on me for a sale outside their region.

I'm making progress on the resistance free reverse front. Not a simple yes/no apparently.

leon, measurement i got is about 371/4 inches at a 3 inch deck ht setting. like mentioned earlier post, the handle could be adjusted to another setting on this mower (not sure on the current model). mine is on the lower setting. without switching the ht.s, would figure the higher setting would add least a few more inches. if get more time could check it out to get a more accurate reading at this ht setting. hopefully someone will check in with the newer model and could check my numbers on this setting, as well as now i'm curious if the newer models have the same design and handle ht on these mowers. btw- freewheeling? don't remember any issues wit the drive not disengaging on this, if that's what ya mean. do try to keep it adjusted. anyway, hope this helps.

I've just noticed different levels of resistance among all the self propelled models, when you pull them in reverse especially. But it turns out I'm just kind of sensitive to this, because only a small minority even complain about it on one of the worst offenders out there, the hrx217, which of course would also be the mower with the tallest handle I've found yet. The only one so far that actually goes higher than I need.

Thanks for the measurement though. It might be cutting it too close for having to buy sight unseen, as much as I love how light it is (86lbs) for having so many "commercial" features, the Gsv190, steel wheels/bearings etc.

thanks again.
