close to buying scag v ride, please help

I'm close to buying a scag 48" v ride but have a couple questions.. Dealer tells me I cannot get any other engine option, only the 23 kawi. Anyone heard of bigger engine, say 27hp? I wish I could buy a 60" v ride and have the dealer install a 48" deck..bigger engine, faster, bigger pumps/wheel motoers, runs cooler/longer life. I know I'm pipe dreamimg on that one. Dealer told me I got approved for Go For Gold program, with special pricing of 7334.00 (not including catcher). He said retail price is 8150.00. I am from Boston MA area, is that a good price? This will be my 1st stander, only have 2 belt machines older than dirt 48 scag and 36 bunton. Am I making the right choice for mower brand? I have always liked my scag 48 belt walk behind, built like a brick sheeathouse. I think the the velocity deck is the clincher. Thanks for the advice in advance guys.

We paid $7100 for our 48" Vride with 24hp...plenty of power...a gas guzzler actually. I will say that if you run mulch kit it zaps the power...side discharge would be no problem. Bride has a hydro cooler btw.

Demo it...try it on hills you plan on mowing. If they are steep hills be careful, it will lose control and crash.

I will not by another Vride.

I'd look at a Toro with Turbo Force deck...I think it leaves a better cut.

I bought two v rides a couple of weeks ago. I got the 61" cut and love them. i paid 7800 a piece for them and then they gave me 8% discount since I got two of them. My plan is to buy two more later this year to replace some of my walk behinds. If i was you I would step up the the 52" cut just so you can get the velocity deck.

paid 6600 for my 48vride out the door. and i have no problems with hills. mow slow if you go flying on a hill at full speed you'll slide and that goes for any mower i've tried em all. picked scag. cuts best imo.

I got a 52 for 63xx very early in the season. 48s also have the velocity deck. Only the 36s have the advantage.
