Deck Pitch on Toro SR4 Super Recycler
I have discovered something that I can do when a lawn gets away from me dues to weather or the customers fertilization habits. That is deck pitch, if I set the front of the mower 1-2 notches higher then the back wheels then the machine makes 2 gradual cuts rather then one big one.
Keep in mind I am talking about dealing with anywhere from 6" to 1' of grass. I have found that if I set the mower as described above and then put it back to my normal setting then I can leave a far better cut, for far much less work then normal. Yes I do still have to make 2 passes like this but they are full speed passes. I have also tested it and it works bagging, mulching or side discharging. Although mulching like this is not as good as the other two methods of dealing with the clippings it does work and leaves some really good stripes. Point of this thread is to share my discovery as it may help someone else, although I am still a young company of 3 year and you all may already know this method.? Then there is my question. Is this bad for the mower in anyway? When something seems too good to be true it usually is, and I am curios if I am harming the mower in anyway? P.S. I am home sick today and therfore that is my defense if my spelling or grammar sucks. |
