When you pull the sump off the engine...carefully inspect every little piece of plastic and metal you find laying in the sump...these pieces will give you a true idea of what happened to the engine...and what needs to be done...

I had a 20 yr old one that I mightve put 1000 hours on. Who knows the history before me. Anyways the engine would drip oil by the deck mounts. We ran it low, we ran it on choke for hours in 90 degree heat, we did everything you could think of to break it but it never did.
