I think your making this more complicated than it needs to be. I usually just tack on $5 or $10 depending on how much they have. You don't have to trim on weeks you don't edge, but it will make it look cleaner.

just trying to think of how much I can maximize it. most lawns around here are grown over 3 inches. but if I.can sell more service Itl be good

If there that over grown then you need to charge to get them back into shape. I usually charge by how far over grown it is and the amount of edging to do.

To answer your question I don't trim anywhere I edge. No point to do twice the work for the same look.

We edge and "top" everything. Edge then top. Top with the grass to your left so it bends the grass away from the sidewalk and less cleanup.
