Broken Stihl Polesaw Shaft Repair

This repair is going to make the Stihl Dealers unhappy...Oh Well...

Get a piece of 3/16 square keystock..
Deburr the square holes at the break.
Drive in about 1 inch of the keystock into the longer shaft..
Cut the keystock leaving an inch stub..debur the stub..
Drive the other piece on...
Stronger than new..

The shaft usually breaks at the snapring groove..
If the break area has too much damage..
Remove the square drive key from the short piece...and reverse both pieces...
Insert the drive key on the motor end of the shaft after repairing the shaft..
