You would be surprised. Cutting the lawn too short, scalping the trimming areas, not trimming some areas, or not showing up. I wasn't just referring to mowing. I have had several landscaping jobs like this. People trim down the weeds and throw mulch over the weeds and a month later the person wonders why there are so many weeds.

Certain types of people, especially foreign people want/expect everything to be dirt cheap or free. I tend to stay away form them so I don't run into this problem.

Sounds like you live in a VERY good market area and I need to move there ASAP. I have four LCO's that live on MY street, and one on the next street.

I always hate this conversation. ^
I've been up selling to every 10 days instead of biweekly. Some people hate how chaotic it can't make their schedule, but it's mostly only small lawns in my direct service area. It's easier than dealing with high grass and idiots complaining.

Lots of true stories in this thread. Most people are cheap. When I get people like that where we aren't even in the same universe as far as price, I just say thanks for considering me and walk away. There is no convincing people like that.

Stand firm on your price or just get a feel for the person coming into the situation. If they want a break down for each and every thing then they are going to try to haggle you. Just up the price and let them talk you down to your normal price. It makes them feel in control.

I charge a minimum price to show up at a job in which prices only go up from. It helps weed out the cheap customers over the phone before I waste time going to look at their job... Ive had a few customers say "well the last guy did it for $40" my response was well why are you looking for a new company? " the last guy went out of business" then my response is well I don't plan on going out of business any time soon...
