Lubrication

Hey -

I'm new to the forum and website so I may be posting a question already answered but I couldn't locate the search button.

I'm looking for a product that I can use to lubricate parts on the mower w/o it collecting sand, mud, dirt, etc. I may be asking for something someone has been searching their entire life for. But I know that common grease will only attract sand and decrease a products life span.

Thanks,
Mark

LOL - One of my mowers has flat-like plates that hold belt pulleys and are engaged/disengaged by threaded stock. It is under those moving plates I need lubrication as it is getting difficult to engage the blades. Thanks.

Try fluidfilm or WD40 or a silcone type penetrating spray.

Never heard of fluidfilm. Can that be picked up at a mower repair site or will I have to find it on-line? Thanks

Fluid Film has advertised on the site but haven't noticed it lately. Most John Deere dealers stock it as well. It's also available online--use your search engine to find the best price. The last I purchased was at a farm/industry show--$40 for a box of 12---less than half price normal retail as I recall.

You might check out Dupont Teflon lubricant. It dries to a thin film and won't attract grime. Motorcyclists like to use it for the chain.

Take dano up on the free sample, its good stuff. I get it at my local John Deere dealer. I like the DuPont also for some things also since it doesn't attract dirt. I get it at Lowe's.
