Stihl fs110 vibration and rining

So my fs110 started vibrating severely during a job a couple weeks back while running one of the 8" 3 point blades on an acre of blackberries. The vibration got really bad, then the engine started to sound funny, so I turned it off and took the unit in to get serviced. The metal housing at the bottom of the engine had developed a crack, and was replaced.

Now that I got it back, I ran it for about 20m and the vibration is back. Now I don't want to go and crack the housing again, because that cost me $140 to get fixed, so I'm looking for ways to diagnose this issue and fix it on my own.

The main things I noticed are the upper part of the down tube gets really hot after extended operation. Not discolored blue hot, but hot. Also, if I spin the blade by hand, there is a slight catch at one point. My assumption is that the shaft is bent and I need to replace it.

How hard is the drive shaft to replace, and what's the normal cost the replacement parts? Should I be replacing anything else at the same time?

Thanks!

I vote for an issue with the clutch.

20 min. and ya got problems? You need to take the unit back and have the moron dlr make it right!! They had to take the powerhead off the shaft to do what they did, they should have inspected the driveshaft and bushings in the tube at the very least! As well as lube the shaft as a matter of course.

But, if ya wanna fix it yourself, you need to remove the powerhead: undo the clamp screw, then loosen the recessed screws ( 2 places) in the throttle hsng. and slip it off the tube, you shouldn't have to separate the two halves.
Then pull the shaft out and youll see where the bushings wear on the shaft.
Check the slop in the top bushing/s. There's going to be some, but it shouldn't be excessive. Could just be needing grease. I use #1 or #0 grease mixed with a little moly. Stihl makes grease also. Just smear it on with yer fingers as ya push the shaft back in. Ya also wanna dab a little on the shaft ends also.

Thanks for the tip BigFish. This was the first time I've been to a Stihl dealer for repair, so wasn't sure about taking it back. I think I might give the repair shop another try to make it right. They have a 2 week backlog at the moment, so they might have cut some corners.
