2012 gravely prostance 2452

Just purchased a 2012 prostance 24hp/52" deck. Hopefully and as time allows I will be posting updates on this mower, cutting performance, reliability, efficiency etc... little background on me and my business; we mow around 65-80 yards a week. Most are weekly but have some bi-weekly yards also. I'm 29yrs old, worked for another lco for 3-4yrs before going at it alone. Started out with 5yards a scag belt drive walk behind, a trimmer and a blower. We are currently running 2 grasshoppers, and 2 walker ghs. Although most of what I post will be my opinion on certain things I will also try to be fair and honest to what I post about the prostance... I'm not an English major, therefor there will be typos n incorrect grammer in what I post... just bare with me
I'm doing this for the sole purpose to try and help fellow contractors narrow their decisions on there next mower purchase, as in my opinion... the prices of mowers keep going up yet the "technology and/or performance" tends to stay the same. Anyhow I just purchased the mower today so have only put 3.8hrs on it so far. And no I don't have any pics of it at this point. The mower had .2hrs on it at time of purchase so its brand new not a demo... with that being said I did demo a similar one before I purchased it. We or I was looking for a mower for strictly mulching as obviously we have baggers on our walkers n also have baggers for both grasshoppers, but the grasshoppers don't mulch very well. (This could be for a few different reasons... not trying several different types of blades etc...) but I'm also not on here to bash grasshoppers or walkers. As our grasshoppers will cut circles around the prostance in bahia and have one (grasshopper) that the hr meter quit working at 1500hrs probably 3yrs ago n we still use it daily. That being said the prostance will cut circles around our walkers in certain situations. Must compare apples to apples. We love both our walkers and our grasshoppers. Anyways the reason I purchased the prostance was because my knee is killing me when mowing on mid mount from picking the deck up and down 100 times a day especially with bagged hooked up, also due to back issues, less trailer and truck bed space. Went with prostance over grandstand and others for one reason due to deck lift pedal (for curbs, tree roots, holes, etc) the other didn't have that. Like previously said so far I'm happy with purchase(too soon to really know). Only complaint are foot pedal to raise deck is small n hurts bottom of foot with tennis shoes on (not an issue w boots on) and it has a knob that u pull up to keep deck from locking in the up position wen mowing,(great idea) that is located directly beside the choke knob (you also pull it up). Probably just from me not being used to it, I accidently pulled the choke knob several times (not looking at it) thinking I was pulling the deck lock knob. Which obviously bogs the mower n kills it if you don't realize wat u did and push it back down quickly. The prostance as it comes from dealer with milch kit does not cut bahia very well...(I might eventually try different blades to correct this, then again I may not) as we didn't purchase this mower for those conditions... anyways that's enough for tonight another work day tomorrow. Any questions just ask!

Let us know of any issues you come across being that its first year model. I was looking at a new prostance but went with a g stand. Ill wait a year or two till they work all the bugs out. They sure look like a beast

A dealer right down the road from me has had one of those sitting outside for the past few months. I've been meaning to stop by and see if I could send it out with my crew to demo some day.

Guys I appologize its been awhile since ive been on here... We are working 6 days/week n when we get off my 3yr old is ready to play. Anyways so far the only issue is lifting the deck (while mowing and with foot pedal.) I assumed or was hoping that it was so hard at first just due to the paint and powdercoat but at 32 hrs it hasnt gotten any easier to lift. The deck lift option is one of the biggest reasons I bought this unit over grandstand and others. Ive loosened a few of the bolts on the deck hoping that would loosen it up, but now have decided to take it to the dealer and get them to do something, but in order to do this ill have to be without it for few days as they do not get in any hurry to do anything and was one of the main reasons that I have avoided Gravely this long! Anyhow due to (wat I hope is a small issue that will be worked out) a few of the guys avoid this mower in general. When we start slowing down a little Ill try to get on here more often and post some pics. For watever reason some love pics . Hope yo all have a safe and prosperous week.
