as far as the vents gas will eventually leak around them. i guess you could silicone them into place or something but the gas would probably eat through that too eventually. i've also heard of gas eating trough the rubber tire valve idea as well.

the no spill cans work the best because they make it easy to fill up anything no matter if the opening is straight up or at an angle.
Thanks for the info greatly appreciate it, I guess I have been lucky since none of mine has or needed a vent, plus not a single leak around the spout.
I will add some silicone around the vent when I get it installed.
