Carb solenoid hook up???

Hey guys, I feel like a kindergardner here, but here's my question:

I found a good briggs 15.5 horse ohv with good compression at the junk yard (pretty cool). It didn't have any shrouds so I couldn't find numbers etc. It came from a Scotts rider if that helps.
It has an LMT carb with a solenoid on the bottom of it.

My question: this engine runs with starting fluid for about 2 seconds, no major noises. Where does the solenoid have to be hooked up? Do I have to run 12 volts to it?
I don't have the chassis, so no wiring for it.

Thanks, oh great ones

Yes you can hook 12 volts to it and ground the black wire, But when you install the engine on a unit wire the fuel cut-off solenoid to the run position of the ignition switch so it doesn't discharge the battery when not in use.

Thanks,
How do you ground the solenoid when there is only one tab at the bottom of the solenoid? Do you just ground negative side of the power source and hook up the Positve side to the solenoid?

Thanks again!
I'm still lernin'

See how easy it is to miss-inform without numbers, Some have a single wire and some have two wires. The single wire one grounds thru the carb. so all you have to do is hook the one wire to pos. and ground your power source and your in business.
