Shindaiwa is what my crews run. I have had several Maruyama pieces of equipment and I think they're all junk. Heavy and prone to problems, like gas cap gaskets failing several times a year. I am so happy I don't own any Maruyama junk anymore.

I have heard good things about Dolmar and RedMax though!

Yeah but for as much as Maruyama charges for a machine, they should correct this problem! I ran them for 9 years, and have purchased several dozen gas caps/gaskets from them. The company knows there is a problem with them, as tons of other people I know have the same issues with specifically Maruyama.

I switched everything I own over to Shindaiwa a few years back and couldn't be happier. No problems at all, nicer construction, quieter and much better balanced!!

A little Stihl swallowing a valve sucks! Can't say I've had that problem before! But.....

I had a Caterpillar diesel swallow a valve last Feburary, $23,000 later the engine was replaced!
