Here on long island we have aquifers that are thousands of feet deep and on the east end of the island (suffolk county where I live) they are still quite full. in nassau county where they are more densly populated they have drawn down their supply. They are on sewers and we have septic. They treat the waste water and dump it into the ocean or long island sound so the aquifers are not replenished with that water.
