My son has a couple of places he cuts for friends from church and they only want it cut EOW. In fact, one of them called last time and said it could go a third week I told him next year he needs to either get these people on once a week or tell them the price is going up to reflect the extra work. One of the properties is 3 acres!

That's the frame of mind that's hard to change. They just want to save money by letting it go another week, then they talk some sucker into cutting low and burning their mower up. I especially hate the phrase "it doesn't look bad, it can wait" The whole point is for it to never look bad. I'm slowly getting rid of these people. I do not regret my decision of dropping that guy yesterday. I would pay to see him talk to another lawn service.

But bro who's gonna cut my shizz short?

With 2 weeks of growth in these conditions, it doesn't matter how short i cut it; the grass will be high after 2 weeks. He just wants it to last a long time. AAhhhh, if he weren't my brother's friend, i'd ditch him. I was on my lowest level last time; now i have to use a smaller mower to cut it shorter. I hate when customers think i'm not doing my job, because they have tall grass after 2 weeks. I'm almost to the point where i don't want any referrals from friends or family, because if i treat them like a regular customer by laying down the law, i'll hear about it from family/friends. Damn that guy.
Crazy idea. Explain this to the customer.

Having to take the extra time to blow and disperse the cuttings is the real pain.

I had one customer that wanted me to go lower, I cut everything at 3 1/4, he wanted 2.5, told hime no it would scalp and look like sh%t, he did not care and said "I used to mow it at that hight" I did it, scalped the crap out of it and then he had the balls to blame it on my mower. I have since parted ways with him. I don't need the headache.

At the beginning of the season (this year we had early spring) and the grass was growing out of control! Which is good for our business but when people want fescue cut down to the dirt I just simply so no! And I did loose a lot of business over it. Also I require weekly service at least during the spring but most of my accounts are weekly. Lately I've been cutting extra lawns and even taking a few people on bi-weekly because thats all they can afford. When its super high it always dulls blades and the grass retains moisture better so my deck clogs easier and its just a headache. When cutting weekly that doesn't happen.

I would tell him that no matter how short you cut it that after two weeks it will still be high but most people do not understand.
