Been putting out flyers since April. Once past Memorial Day no more responses. Lack of new response made me not want to continue putting out flyers. But you have to beat the streets if you want to grow your business.

Just put some out this past Friday. Met a lady as I was putting a flyer in her mail box, she asked if I needed anything, said just leaving a flyer. She said for what?

Ans: landscaping

She said I think it's time to get rid of the Mexicans. They're suppose to maintain the beds an hardly ever touch them. Then they're rutting up my front lawn.

Stopped gave a estimate.

This evening I go another call from Friday's efforts and going to give an estimate Sunday morning.

Thing is there are many reasons why people need to hire a landscaper after the season has started.

I agree with most of the previous posters. It's never a bad time to get your name out there. As several people have mentioned, there are many reasons why a client would need lawn care later in the season. Make sure to use your network of family, friends and colleagues also to find any leads. Good luck.

I've had several calls over the last few days. Most are coming from a Craigslist ad that I haven't reposted in at least a month. (proving that people DO use the "search" and not just look at the current listings)

"Hi, I just moved in and I need someone to maintain the lawn."

I like the "new people". They are generally more accepting of anything you quote them. They need work done, don't know the area, and haven't been jaded by the availability of "Timmy" down the street working for ten bucks an hour.
