To follow up with you guys I am still having problems. I took it to the dealer and they leveled the deck and it didn't seem to help much. I took it back and they put new caster yokes and deck post bushings and re-checked the level. Still not cutting right and it's driving me mad. The cut seems to be level, but the blades are striping differently. I found this crack in the underside of the deck. Could it adjust airflow so each blade cuts different?

No, that wouldn't make any difference- unless it leads to a crack up the skirt and/or across the deck top.
It doesn't sound to me like your dealer is very interested in fixing it for you. All the stuff you say they did is just their way of looking like they are doing something. Take your belt off the pulleys and see if you can wiggle any of them while there's no spring tension on them. |

All of the pulleys are tight. I've adjusted the belt tension lever which doesn't help. Is it possible it's the tensioner spring on the idler pulley? I've noticed in taller grass the discharge spindle does not cut clean. |

How about trying to find a different deck? Look around and see if you can find a dead mower with a good deck.

A crack in the deck is a sign of a flexing deck....it will change under load ...
Remove the belt and get the blade tips to line up where they meet in the middle. Get somebody to put a nasty weld on the crack...maybe reinforce it... Then...adjust the deck.. Posted via Mobile Device |
