Stihl has a lifetime shaft warranty. IF you are the original owner of the trimmer.
Great idea, BUT the link states "Only the machineís drive shaft carries a limited lifetime warranty. Drive shaft housings, tubes, liners, supports, couplers, bearings and bushings are subject to the normal warranty time periods of the machine."

By the time you buy the housing (outer tube) and any other parts damaged whe it was run over, it will probably be a long way from free.
Would be awful hard to run over it w/o crushing the outer shaft housing.

I got it all back together for $121, not quite as bad as I had thought, I'm guessing they balance everything at the factory cause it isn't balanced, it's not real bad but nothing like new.

Mind if I ask which trimmer and what each part cost?
A friend needs to replace the shaft on a Stihl polesaw and is worried about the cost.

I pay around 55 for my shafts from stihl they include everything. I replaced a lot on one of my crews trailers because of the rack that was on it and would wear through shafts.

Thanks - that's cheaper than I thought.

I just got two complete shafts with inner sleeve and solid drive shaft for 55. They go on my fc110 and my FS110. Prices at stihl dealers vary and my dealer does not play any games with me because of the volume I buy. You can always negotiate the price.

The price you listed is very close to mine when I have replaced. I think the trimming I paid close to $60 and $65 for the curved edger shaft.

The process of changing is simple and quick
