A few years ago I had a site with a pipe being choked by roots . It was under a maple with very dense shallow roots and I couldn't identifiy where it was being choked without severly damaging the root system. So I went and got my compressor and made up a 1/2" wand and blew all the dirt out if the way and was able to find and repair the pipe without muck harm to the tree.

each blade has it's own recommended operating speed. wood blades are meant to work at lower speeds or rpm.
