have a john deere 2010 quik trak 23hp kawasaki 169 hours on it. in the mornings it turns over real hard 3rd to 1/4 turns at a time for about 30 seconds and cranks over just fine after that. it will turn over for another 30 seconds to a minutes before it starts to fire and then it spits and sputters for about 10 to 15 second and gas just sprays out, even after it done sputtering and then i shut it down and restart it and all is fine. what wrong carb?
chaged oil and it was 50/50 gas to oil in it.

i checked oils, valve clearance, spark plugs, tested ignition coils, gas, air filters

just started doing it yesterday once it starts it fine. and after each yard it would take a few second to start instead of right away like it has always done. and if i would choke it it would take longer to start and even more gas coming out of muffler.

Maybe a good carb clean to make sure needle isnt sticking and letting to much gas into engine. Also , bouncing up and down when traveling to next destination maybe letting to much gas get by and into engine . That would explain why it starts hard at first then fine after its been started once. Good luck. Does it have a gas shut off?

i thought the same thing about the bouncing but had it sit over night in the garage and still did the same thing. i just turned off the gas valve and will see if it does it in the morning. but still would like to know why its doing it. and hopefully fix it myself. no grass = no money, so i dont really want to take it in if i can fix it
