I would break the handle out of most of that stuff inside a week.

Let me put it another way...
Customers like to stick us with it from time to time. And by sticking us I mean they think they're doing us a favor or at the very least they're not hurting us by giving it away. We get our stuff for free. But it still doesn't help and we end up getting stuck with it, someone thought we'd make some money and at one time or another I may have been guilty of this as well but then I have paid the fee at the dump more than once. Case in point, we got a nice curved shaft string trimmer just like that one in the picture. Ours is so new it has hardly an hour's use on it, wipe off the dust and there might be a few minor surface scratches if that. But first we had to order a new spool: $20 The value of the machine new is somewhere between $100-$200 The problem is we can't get $50 for it, despite the fact that it's worth nearly $80 in its condition nobody will pay that kind of money. Any less than $35-40 we're just giving it away, $25-30 maybe and it's hardly worth the trouble thou I can kind of see it. Quote:
So in the shed it sits, alongside all the rest of the $h!7 we've gotten stuck with over the years. All we did is moved it from their shed, to ours. Last edited by herler; 06-20-2012 at 08:38 AM. |

This is the key. If you need them maybe $100 If you're going to stick them in the shed and not use them $5.

Has the customer been good to you in the past?? That can factor in to how much you pay. If they have been GREAT customers that always paid and no problems, that is worth a little extra. What might be better is trade out $100 in labor/mowing for the stuff that way it is no cash out of your pocket.

Hmm, it really depends on how good of customers they were. I would probably pay a bit more if they had been with me for 20years trouble free. That old lawnboy, if you can get it running is worth some $. Those things are getting collectible. Tools aren't worth much, but that chipper is pretty heavy duty. Those old briggs engines are bullet proof, and I wouldn't be surprised if you could get it running. And I would say running that little mcculloch leaf blower could be worth 20$ to someone. Maybe $100? Like i said it depends on the person.
