That's still a small area. Unless you OWN a mini SS then I would pitch fork it into your truck or trailer. No need in spending to much money on a rental if you don't need to.

Landscape rake only a few inches out onto a big tarp and drag the old mulch to a spot that it may be okay to use it. Then add the new mulch.

if you have a leaf vac that is the way to go, we do that all the time. it will pick it up in no time. with no damage to plantings or trees.
