Compressor gurus out and about?
Bought a new skid mount compressor and having trouble with it. 13 hp. Honda and an Eaton compressor.
Unit will not idle down and not compress when there is no call for air.. Unit starts to violently surge and will lock up the engine unless I put the unloader in the start position. Having a new unloader sent out but am apprehensive as to whether it will solve the problem. I need this unit to run this time of year. John |

One more reason to like compressor pumps with built-in head unloaders

Maybe you should take it back to where you bought it ?

Eaton imports Chinese compressor pumps. Some of them do have head unloaders. They might still be selling them on eBay, and an auction would have company contact info.

Was there no tank at all on the original?

Ordered it as a skid mount. It had no tank. A little drilling and welding on a 5 gal. air tank and it runs very well now.

Yeah, you need some kind of tank to smooth out the rise and fall of pressure. I'd want one, even with head unloaders.
