Thanks for all the opinions. Never heard of the 20w50 talk until now. Just bought the mower a month ago and only have 65 hrs on it. I think I will keep running the 10w 30 unless my dealer can really talk me out of it.

It's burned about 1/2 a quart in 60 hrs since my first oil change at 5 hrs.

My dealer says kohler suggests changing oil every 100 hours! I thought this was a loooong time?! I'll probably shoot for anywhere between 60 and 75 hrs to be conservative (compared to what they suggest). I dont mind spending the extra money on oil and filter if there's a decent chance at extending the life of my engine.

I'm far more concerned with long engine life than fuel consumption.

I switched straight to 30wt in my new 29efi. I was getting some start up smoke. After switching two weeks ago I have had no start up smoke since.

I'm at 9.8 hrs.
Sounds like this rainy weekend would be a fine time to switch over to Mobile 1.

Been running HD30 as well. Was going to order a couple cases of Amsoil small engine, but will now go to Castrol full synthetic 20W-50. This is what I used to run in the SuperZ's hydro's.

Yes Dino=conventional, as in it comes from decomposed dinosaurs!
