A friend has a 3372 and a rod went threw the block He bought a short block and when he took his heads off his old one He said was carbon build up So I pulled mine off Yep same thing Cleaned them up installed them back after a 12 pack on Friday it was running strong again 1800 hrs on a 06 We will see how many more Hours I will get
Carbon buildup on the head can create rod knock and destroy the engine as well. I am not saying this is why they throw rods but could be the case on some units. I knew these engines threw rods, I have read to many threads about it on the net but most of them are from spinning them up to much.

There are 2 different store fronts for these engines, read the text and figure it out.

That is one thing I don't like about Generac When kick blades off they rap up even when they are brand new Kohler kick blades off they don't rap out atleast the Kohlers I own I try teach each guy to throttle down before kicking blades off.
My dealer called wanting sell me a 2014 3372 I told him I buy one if they will put Kohler 34 EFI on the 72 Classic He said cost more I told him I don't care I'm not going buy another Generac
Never had carbon build up on a Kohler like it was on that Generac
Im getting tried sitting the rockers I had do my 3360 again 2nd time in 300 hrs I wouldn't bought it but I was down I had valve seats pop out my 2010 3372 and I was needing a mower till they got it fix So I bought a 3360

if the motor revs up that will explain why the Gennys are blowing on some people, it doesn't take much. A New Sub should be better about this, the new Sub should be able to do 40 HP with no problem for long periods of use.

Cleaner burning fuel and better jetting could solve your problem, the design of the head on the Gen may be causing un burnt exhaust gases to stick and not scavenge real well and build up. Nothing a good head builder and mild port work could not solve more than likely.
