Tuning a blade sharpener?
I jumped on the band wagon & bought a Bradley brand blade sharpener. It did not come with directions for operating it other then wear safety gear etc...
Do you raise the sharpening blade all the way up? It seems with the grinding wheel all the way up it only sharpens the top edge of my blades. Making for a very steep angle on the blades??? I looked at a set of fresh hustler blades I have on the shelf and they look to have a much more gradual angle on the blade. What am I doing wrong? |

What i did was take a new set of blades, paint the edge black, and adjust the sharpener until it was sharpening the whole edge in the first pass. Takes a few times but once you get it set just tighten it up and i havent adjusted mine again. Ive sharpened blades for 4 mowers weekly all season and havent had to adjust it.

Most need to be re-adjusted periodically and when the wheel gets out of round you'll probably need to use a wheel dressing tool.
