Sod Question

I am going to patch a few spots in my yard with sod where I dribbled gas and other crap. Someone told ne not to water the new sod. Doesn't make sense to me, but I don't know ...

Does anyone know if this is correct?

No, this is not correct, you must water the new sod.
Personally, if this was my own lawn, I would not put sod down in the heat of this August, I would wait for cooler temps in Sept.

Unless it was a large area, it will probably fill in by itself in time with the help of a little fert.
