John Deere or Hustler?
We've been using John Deere z trak's for a while not and have been contemplating switching over to Hustler super z's...just haven't convinced myself that they're a much better bang for the buck...and am not sure I can justify the extra money for the hustler's. If we do switch I may go with a rear discharge for the municipal work...any thoughts would be appreciated...

Which models of Deere are you using?
There are a lot of threads and posts about the Hustler VX4 deck having cut issues here on northern grasses. Haven't read a single one on the rear discharge decks though. |

I have a new super z and while I have no cut issues the jd probably will cut better in all conditions. The hustler was better for me, better ride, smoother steering, speed, and dealer. I too have seen complaints about vx4 in northern grass so if that's where you are you may be better off with a Deere.

The Deere will blow the hustler away in cut quality in northern grasses. I liked how the super rode and driver but as I and many other people on this forum found out, its horrible in the grass, at least here in the north. Them southern guys love em

I have the Z925...and am pretty happy with it...but the Hustler Super Z was available with more HP and the rear discharge.

If you want more hp, get a z950. If you want a rear discharge check out grasshopper. Thier new deck is suppose to better than out now.

Deere has much better cut quality. Speed and HP mean nothing if you have to double cut with the Super Z.
