Help me decide? string trimmer.
These are all about the same price.
1. Maruyama New old stock BC2600 - priced between Husty and Honda. 2. Husqvarna 224L - Honda GX-25 powered. - can get for less than the Honda, about $280 ish. 3. Honda String trimmer 25cc - GX-25 powered. On sale $319 shipped. 4. Refurbished Makita older 4-stroke Dolmar/robin trimmer - $290-300 shipped. 5. Tanaka TBC-260PF New for $269 shipped. These are all the good deals I have seen. Do I go old school 2-stroke or 4- stroke? For home use, plan to keep 10 years. Last edited by zmelli; 10-18-2012 at 02:40 PM. |

http://kawpower.com/handheld/string-trimmers/ktfr27a I bought that one this season and I love it. It's lightweight, has plenty of power for normal trimming, and is built very solid. I put a speedfeed head on it for $30 and I love the thing. I would consider my use "light commercial" since I'm a part time operation with 17 weekly accounts. It should be more than enough for home use. I got mine from my local kawasaki dealer for $190 because it was a display model and he didn't have the box for it anymore. |

The only issues I've had with mine was that it was a little slow to warm up when I first got it. After a couple tanks of gas through it, that went away.

For home use? Definately 2 stroke.
Husq 223L, or Echo SRM-225. Both are lightweight, well made, will run forever but have plenty of power for home owner use. Oh and they are $100 less. 4 stroke is way too heavy/big etc for home owner use unless you are doing acres of thick brush. I just got an SRM-225 and I am loving it. So light, yet plenty of power. |
