Subway = Fresh, Your Lawn & Landscape Company = ?

I just added this to my blog but wanted to share it here with everyone...

Think about all of the companies that stand out - they have a slogan or a theme they focus on in all of their advertising and promotion.

Nike = Just Do It

Budweiser = The King of Beers

McDonald's = I'm lovin it

Hallmark = When You Care Enough to Send The Very Best

Kentucky Fried Chicken = Finger Lickin Good

Maxwell House = Good to The Last Drop

M&M's = Melts in Your Mouth Not in Your Hands

Disneyland = The Happiest Place on Earth

Doesn't really matter how old you are, you are probably well aware of all of these slogans. They are catchy, they stick with us and they make us think. they center their product or service around this slogan and it resonates with people. You almost have no choice but to remember them. In some cases, if the company has a jingle, you know that as well.

So what is your lawn and landscape company's slogan? What makes your business unique?

Do you think that Nike would be the shoe & apparel powerhouse it is today if their slogan or USP (Unique Selling Proposition) was the following?:

We are a professional shoe company. We are licensed and insured. We care about our customers. We make shoes, boots, sandals, shirts, pants, hats and a lot more.

Of course not. That's not catchy. That's not sexy, and it certainly isn't memorable.

So then why do so many lawn care and landscaping companies out there do exactly this?

We are professional, licensed and insured. We will take care of your lawn like it is our own. We provide lawn mowing, landscaping, aeration, seeding, mulching, irrigation repair, lighting, shrub trimming, snow removal, and much more.

Blah, Blah, Blah

Challenge yourself. Sit down and think about this. Think about your audience. Think about how to connect with them. Think of something memorable. Be different.

Once you have something, live and die with it - put it everywhere, along with your logo. Never miss an opportunity to remind people. In time they will think of you first.

Try to keep it as short as you can. Ge tto the point. Don't try and fool anyone and definitely don't offend anyone.

I like it... Does anyone ever have a problem understanding the D.E.A.L.?

I got it right away just curious if you have ever had people ask.

I haven't had anyone ask about it. Most common response is "I like that! That's very clever!"
