Right, personally I ride an R6 and it has a magnesium frame and aluminum chassis. Even magnesium wheels... which will also shatter.

frame=chassis. any cast metal can crack easier than forged or drawn metal.

did you mean swing arm? I love how people just post about magnesium, when even in the first post I specified I understood the shortcomings of magnesium and know aluminum alloy would be a superior choice. mag wheels used to be huge, now it's all about aluminum. while it's still flammable, it's harder to ignite than magnesium. both can be welded, but each has it's challenges. anyone ever tried to work with titanium? I've never worked with magnesium, since it's not as common to fabricate something out of magnesium, but I've worked with titanium. just to give you a hint, there are only tens (if even) of people in the world capable of welding it. then if you get into people that can weld it well, the number drops even further.

There is very little magnesium in your bike. Only the subframe, and 2 side engine covers are magnesium. Aluminum on the rest.
