hydrostatic question / issue on Toro
I advertised my old Toro Groundsmaster Proline 120 for sale the other day and had someone look at it today (older guy - said he had owned a 118 before). He only drove it about 30 feet and backed it up where he began - then cut it off. He said it had a transmission problem. Now - I've owned it for 10 years and never noticed an issue.... runs strong and as far as I can tell - smooth. He said it was "jumpy" when he pushed the pedal to move. It wasn't a ploy to get a lower price - he just shook my hand and left.
I've never changed the fluid (only put about 90-100 hours on it a year). Is he full of BS??? or is there something I should be checking out? As I said - it seams smooth to me. Thanks for any pointers.

If you've owned it that long and feel no difference, it's better you didn't sell it to him, He'd be call'n and nit-pick'n it to death. I'd move on to the next prospect.....

you are probably right..... I did try it out again a few minutes ago. Paying mor attention now, I do notice a slight jump or grabbing just as it starts to engauge / roll forward or reverse, but it smooths right out. The fluids are very clean. Just wondering if it's worth it to change them or let it go as is
when selling. don't want to put much into it anymore. |

Raise the drive wheels off the ground and check for play in the wheel hubs, Over time they can loosen and wear the drive keys out......
