yes I feel those in the service and there family's and appreciate what they do for our country. but I don't agree that it should be every non military family's moral obligation to give money to the military charities as this family in the article I read suggests. I think helping the military with money or time should be a personal decision each and every person has the freedom to make. not a moral obligation. you choose to be in the military. if you or your family can't handle that on your own don't join the military. don't get into te military counting on others for help. I know I don't count on anyone but myself. |

Again, we have a lot of liberty paid for in blood. Not every war is noble, not every politician held the moral high ground but the blood and sacrifice of the solider is above that as many of them gave the ultimate commitment for our freedom. I will say again, there should be no need for Charity because our soldiers should not want or need it. That is our obligation as a free republic and organized government. |

3 kinds of Americans. The ones who have served and understand what that commitment means. The ones that possess the unique human quality of empathy. The last group think that the way of life they take for granted just fell out of a Pilgrims backside.

Maybe its because I was brought up in a time when a mans handshake meant something. When you got a job based on a handshake. When morals and values meant something. When TV shows like The Rifleman and Little House on the Prairie etc. taught morals and family values and respect for the elderly and the military.
Sure they volunteer to join the service and thank God for us they do. (can I still say Thank God?) I don't know how many times I would force myself to watch the dedications at the end of the news broadcast showing the new round of dead young men and their young faces thinking to myself how they will never know the joys of life that I was fortunate enough to enjoy. I sit and watch those dedications while tears roll down my face and my heart would ache for their families. All of the lives effected by that one persons passing. Or the ones that come home with legs blown off and arms blown off. It makes me sick. I have seen soldiers at gas stations and walked up to them and shook their hands and they look surprised and say thank you. I for one respect and admire their courage and commitment to protecting our freedoms and way of life. The problem with our society today is they are taught to be selfish with no morals or respect. Reality TV shows teaching people that its OK to cheat on your wife, treat people with no respect, lying is accepted and on and on. You can't have the ten commandments in the courthouse, lets take In God We Trust off the money. No pledge of allegiance in schools. Just amazes me. Think about that young man that will never get to experience the joys of growing up, buying a house, watching his children get older etc. That's what I think about when I see those young faces. Todays society makes me sick and some of the comments from snot nosed kids on this forum just prove my point. I won't say what I would love to say on here because it would be promptly deleted. I feel sorry for the way this country is headed and the attitudes of society today. Its a me me me society. I believe I grew up in American history's greatest time and as I get older I feel sorry for those that are just getting started in this time and age. This country is where it is at right now because of the lack of morals and respect for others. Get all you can no matter what cost. Me Me Me. Screw everyone else. Makes me sick. Dave... |
