Thanks for the tips guys.

Going back this morning I wasn't real satisfied with the area I'd done. The ground was pretty hard and I'd only raked one direction. So I ripped it down a couple inches with the 210LE and re-raked it both directions. Finished raking the rest and got the lot about half graded.

One thing I noticed is that the rake seemed to stall pretty easy. Better after I ripped, but still not as powerful as I would expect from an attachment that sure isn't cheap. Is this something that would work better with high flow? I think it may just be my inexperience with the rake.

My harley rake is a tractor unit so I cannot answer why the Landpride is stalling. I demoed a Harley rake on my skid a long time ago and I do not remeber it stalling. The main problem I have is it will not dig down into hard ground. I always just plow the area first which helps remove the Gras/roots and loosens the soil. I plow about 6 inches deep. It takes a little practice to get the hang of it and how to work it efficiently. Once you learn it is a great tool.

Yeah I figure it's just my inexperience with the attachment. The soil I'm working in is dry clay and very hard. I call it "popcorn" clay because of the way it breaks up when the crust is broken. Funny you mention the pto driven rake. I was thinking that no way would one of these rakes stall if my tractor's pto was driving it. I expected more out of the hyd setup. One thing I didn't like about the Landpride unit is that it has float linkages between the unit and the quick attach plate. Makes it almost impossible to curl enough to take weight off of the wheels. The float also makes the rake want to follow the contour of the ground whether you want it to or not. I haven't looked at any other makes to see if they have the float feature.

My harley rake is 84" and it Cat which is really harley brand (Palladin) and in hard clay or coming upon large rocks or ledge it has stalled. I don't think it is the unit or the machine I think it is the way it is setup so the unit doesn't just grenade itself. Kind of like an auger just doesn't keep spinning when it runs into something hard. Between down pressure from the machine it can't really kick over it and by the dust that looks like it would be rock hard.
