The term "deal in what you know" comes to mind. I'm not sure how long you have been in business, but why not spend some $$$ to get professional consultation on this as it is likely one of the biggest financial decision you will make. You don't want to leave money on the table; additionally, he might be able to provide you with some guidance on sale price based on a variety of factors including previous sale prices for comparable businesses.

Ditto. Without doing this, the range of what different individuals think the business is worth is going to be extremely wide....so much in fact, that it may be useless.

I doubled the monthly income and added a little extra on (for the accounts) and than sold all equipment separate. After that we just came to an agreement that we were both happy with!

The buyer would have paid more and the seller would have taken less!
