Mississippi Business License?
First off, I'm very grateful I stumbled upon this website..
My name is Brandon and I am interested and finally starting a one man show small Lawn care business.. I was wondering if anyone could help me out on what I need to do... I have been looking and doing research, etc. But I wanted some actual experienced fellows thoughts and help. Do I even need a license to mow grass, weed, etc in Mississippi..?? If so, how much is it and what is it called. Generall license? I can't find anything.. Or can I just start handing out business cards with my information on it? Thanks, Brandon |

It doesn't take too much time or money to register a business with your state. If possible try to register as a LLC (limited liability company) rather than a sole proprietor.
You absolutely check with your town and county to make sure you follow any requirements they may have. Every town and county is different. You most likely should be collecting sales tax and paying it to the state. When you register your business they will tell you about this. If you do not collect sales tax and you get caught, you will be required to pay the missing sales tax out of your pocket... plus penalties. It is best to put your best foot forward when starting out. Best of luck.
